26th August til 27th September Jane Austen comes home to Bath . A unique chance to see the only widely accepted depiction of Jane Austen (1775–1718) outside London, when the sketch of the novelist by her sister Cassandra is generously lent to the Holburne Museum by the National Portrait Gallery. 4th September, Saturday 2-5pm, Claverton & District Horticultural Society Annual Flower & Produce Show, at Claverton Down Community Hall, Claverton Down Rd, Bath BA2 6DT. Homemade teas and cakes, traditional prize giving ceremony, rustic crafts and countryside stalls (such as beekeepers, herbs and green woodworking), a pet show and traditional children’s games (such as hook a duck and snail racing).
