16th April, Wednesday, 7.30pm. Combe Down Heritage Society monthly talk. Doors open at 7pm. Two Tunnels room, The Hub, Mulberry Park, BA2 5BU. We welcome Mary Stacey, project manager of the Combe Down Stone Mines project. In 1994, parts of the MoD site which became Mulberry Park and much of Combe Down village were found to be dangerously unstable because the 18th-century stone mines underneath had begun to collapse. From 2004-9 a £150M stabilisation project poured foamed concrete into the old mine workings. Non-members are very welcome at all our talks. Entry £4. (£2 for members.)
